Each year, GLAAD presents non-competitive honors to projects across entertainment and media that do not fit into existing or traditional GLAAD Media Awards<\/a> categories. For spotlighting the strength, resilience and ingenuity of the LGBTQ community, DRAG: The Musical<\/em>\u00a0was chose as one of six projects to receive this honor this year for the 36th GLAAD Media Awards<\/em>.<\/p>\n

DRAG: The Musical <\/em>tells the story of two competing drag houses\u2014both glamorous and both equally determined to prove who reigns supreme in a world of wigs, lip-syncing, and high stakes.<\/p>\n

Critics have fallen in love with the show\u2019s over-the-top spectacle.\u00a0Vulture<\/em>\u00a0called it a \u201csequin-splattered extravaganza,\u201d and\u00a0The New Yorker<\/em>\u00a0raved, \u201cDrag: The Musical<\/em> delivers the goods! Glamour, camp, spectacle, heart, and a shit ton of rhinestones.\u201d<\/p>\n

As\u00a0DRAG: The Musical<\/em>\u00a0prepares to take its final bow in New York, it leaves behind a legacy of bold creativity, boundary-pushing performances, and unforgettable moments. And as the team sets its sights on the London stage, fans can rest assured that this glittering journey is far from finished.<\/p>\n

The cast was presented their trophy in curtain call presentation by GLAAD’s Senior Director of Communications and GLAAD Media Awards Supervising Producer,\u00a0Tony Morrison<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“Thank you all for your craft, your story and your purpose,” Morrison said.<\/p>\n

“To everyone here on stage and in this audience, do not\u00a0ever<\/em> stop telling your stories. Our stories are the antidote to hate and violence beyond these theater walls,” he added.<\/p>\n

The show’s leading queen, Alaska<\/strong>, accepted the award on stage and also shared remarks.<\/p>\n

“The very fact that in 2025, that this show exists, this show got made, this show made it to this stage, is remarkable. Thank you so much, GLAAD for giving us this. This helps us amplify our voice,” Alaska said.<\/p>\n
