The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisn.com\/article\/wisconsins-90m-supreme-court-most-expensive-election-whats-at-stake\/64352006\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">race<\/a> was billed as a \u201clitmus test,\u201d ABC News reported, for voters to \u201cget the chance to weigh in on President Donald Trump\u2019s agenda,&#8221; and express their opinion on the actions of Trump\u2019s billionaire donor and \u201cDOGE\u201d leader Elon Musk.<\/p>\n<p>Musk and related political action committees contributed more than $20million to Brad Schimel\u2019s campaign, making this the most expensive judicial race in history. Musk personally campaigned in Wisconsin to offer two voters one million dollars each.<\/p>\n<p>GLAAD and <a href=\"https:\/\/fairwisconsin.com\/\">Fair Wisconsin<\/a> had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wispolitics.com\/2025\/fair-wisconsin-and-glaad-release-fact-sheet-for-reporters-lgbtq-records-of-the-candidates-in-wisconsins-supreme-court-election-on-april-1-and-resources-about-voter-id-referendum-also-on-the-ballot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">documented<\/a> the LGBTQ and equality <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DH6PGskO9kZ\/?img_index=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">records<\/a> of the supreme court candidates.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" style=\"background: #FFF; font-weight: normal; line-height: 17px; text-decoration: none;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DH6PGskO9kZ\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A post shared by GLAAD (@glaad)<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Crawford\u2019s election secures a pro-equality majority on the court, which could decide on abortion access, voting rights, and accurately representative voting districts for the state legislature.<\/p>\n<p>Schimel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jsonline.com\/story\/news\/politics\/elections\/2025\/02\/20\/top-aide-to-ag-brad-schimel-helped-devise-a-strategy-to-topple-roe\/77976691007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">made several appearances<\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/glaad.org\/gap\/alliance-defending-freedom-adf\/\">Alliance Defending Freedom<\/a> events, <em>LGBTQ Nation<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lgbtqnation.com\/2025\/04\/elon-musk-brutally-mocked-for-trying-to-buy-wisconsins-election-losing-anyway\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>. The group was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.splcenter.org\/resources\/extremist-files\/alliance-defending-freedom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">designated<\/a> an anti-LGBTQ+ hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Schimel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wuwm.com\/2025-03-31\/trans-issues-surface-briefly-in-the-wisconsin-supreme-court-race\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">aired an anti-trans ad<\/a> during the campaign attacking Crawford for supporting transgender rights.<\/p>\n<p>Crawford defeated Brad Schimel by 10 percent (55% and over 1,300,000 votes \/ 45% and over 1,050,000 votes). Crawford spoke out against Musk&#8217;s attempts to influence the election. \u201cI\u2019ve got to tell you, as a little girl growing up in Chippewa Falls, I never could have imagined that I\u2019d be taking on the richest man in the world,&#8221; Crawford <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpr.org\/news\/susan-crawford-wins-wisconsin-supreme-court-race-democrats-elon-musk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>. \u201cAnd we won.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"CNN 04 01 2025 22 36 27\" width=\"788\" height=\"443\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eYZg-9UonbY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jill Underly beat Brittany Kinser by five percent (52.9% and over 1,100,000 votes \/ 47.1% and over 1,000,000 votes). Underly <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/juaPy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spoke<\/a> in support of LGBTQ students during the campaign: &#8220;Schools should be inclusive spaces where all students feel safe, supported and able to fully participate in extracurricular activities.
