\u2014Created<\/a> a new Title IX Special Investigations Team focused on preventing transgender women and girls from women\u2019s and girls\u2019 sports teams and restrooms. The Departments of Education and Justice jointly said that this team will \u201cprotect students, and especially female athletes, from the pernicious effects of gender ideology in school programs and activities.\u201d Title IX was enacted by Congress in 1972 to protect students from discrimination \u201con the basis of sex.\u201d NCAA President Charlie Baker testified<\/a> in December 2024 that he knows of fewer than ten transgender college student athletes among 510,000 athletes total.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2014<\/span>Actively<\/span><\/a> fought against the legalization of same-sex marriage as Florida\u2019s Attorney General, arguing that allowing same-sex marriage would cause \u201cserious public harm.\u201d She sought to uphold Florida\u2019s ban on marriage equality until it was ultimately overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2015. Prior to legal marriage equality same-sex couples could not access the legal benefits that come with marriage, including spousal rights in healthcare decisions, inheritance without a will, and tax benefits associated with marriage, and many states, including Florida, had laws that explicitly prohibited same-sex couples from adopting children or made it significantly more difficult for them to do so.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2014<\/span>Requested<\/span><\/a> that the Florida Supreme Court overrule a lower court decision that found the state\u2019s same-sex marriage ban unconstitutional.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2014<\/span>Said<\/span><\/a> she would \u201cvigorously defend Florida’s law banning gay adoption in our state.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2014Following the 2016 Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting, <\/span>Bondi said<\/span><\/a>, \u201cAnyone who attacks our LGBT community, anyone who attacks anyone in our state, will be gone after with the full extent of the law.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2014<\/span>Voiced support<\/span><\/a> for employment protections for LGBTQ workers.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2014Wrote<\/a> in a court filing that recognition of out-of-state same-sex\u00a0marriages would “impose significant public harm” on her state of Florida.<\/p>\n

\u2014Repeatedly stated<\/a> her opposition to adoption by same-sex couples and her support for Florida’s now-defunct adoption ban.<\/p>\n
