In 2020, GLAAD launched its first annual 20 Under 20<\/a> list in collaboration with Teen Vogue. Since then, the campaign has put the spotlight on a new batch of 20 young LGBTQ change makers, ages 20 and under, every year. Those who are\u00a0 honored come from a diverse array of backgrounds, identities, and areas of expertise. They are pioneers and activists in a variety of fields from the arts, to politics, academia, and everything in between.<\/p>\n

The third annual list<\/a> featured exciting names like model Alex Consani,\u00a0<\/strong>actors Elva Guerra<\/strong>, Gabriella Pizzolo,<\/strong> and Milly Shapiro<\/strong>, musicians Jade LeMac<\/strong> and Nico Craig<\/strong>, and activists\u00a0Olivia Julianna, Jack<\/strong> Petocz, Aidan Kohn-Murphy, Zander Moricz<\/strong>, Will Larkins <\/strong>and Giiwedin,\u00a0<\/strong>just to name a few.<\/p>\n

In the 2 years since the 3rd list was published, members of the class of 2022 have gone on to do incredible things with the platforms they\u2019ve created. Hear first-hand some of the exciting projects GLAAD\u2019s 20 Under 20 class of 2022 are working on!<\/p>\n

Cameron Samuels<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Activist and organizer Cameron Samuels was honored in 2022 for their work in the fight against Book Bans and censorship in their home state of Texas.<\/p>\n

Samuels shares that their nonprofit SEAT<\/a> (Students Engaged in Advancing Texas), which they co-founded and now serve as Executive Director, has continued to grow and take on new challenges as they arise in Texas. Samuels shares that their TXLege Changemaker Bootcamp<\/a> is training 50+ students with 10 hours of action-based learning before placing them into Spring internships in lawmaker offices.<\/p>\n

Samuels, along with SEAT is currently suing Texas against LGBTQ+ social media censorship. Read about the case in Samuel’s own words here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Samuels tells GLAAD, “We recently received the Champions Award from the Transgender Foundation of America<\/a> for our trans justice work in Texas school districts.”<\/p>\n
