\u2014<\/span>Says<\/span><\/a> she has gay friends who are \u201cappalled with the \u2018BTQ+\u2019 [bisexual, transgender, and queer] everything they keep adding to it.\u201d Has <\/span>stated<\/span><\/a> that those same gay friends would oppose a nondiscrimination bill protecting them statewide, and says, \u201cSane, hard working gay men and women are fed up with being held hostage by the alphabet mafia.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2014<\/span>In a March interview on KNST radio<\/span><\/a>, criticized schools that teach students about gender identity, stating that they are promoting \u201cconfusion.\u201d \u201cThis is why it is so important, and maybe the most important, for people to run for school board, some people with sanity who aren\u2019t going to push this on our children,\u201d said Lake. \u201cCan you imagine back while we were going to school if a teacher would have been talking about all of this crazy stuff? Gender identity? It\u2019s just so lunatic.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2014<\/span>Tweeted<\/span><\/a> in May that, \u201cA child\u2019s gender is determined by God at conception, NOT by some Woke Teacher in the 3rd grade. This insanity must end,\u201d falsely implying that schools are somehow responsible for creating transgender youth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2014<\/span>Falsely accused President Joe Biden<\/span><\/a> of promoting \u201cgrooming\u201d during an interview with former Trump cabinet member Steve Bannon, claiming Biden is \u201cwithholding National School Lunch Program Funds from schools that don\u2019t adopt his perverted sexual agenda.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2014<\/span>Scapegoated<\/span><\/a> the LGBTQ community, writing, \u201cThey kicked God out of schools and welcomed the Drag Queens. They took down our Flag and replaced it with a rainbow. They seek to disarm Americans and militarize our Enemies. Let\u2019s bring back the basics: God, Guns & Glory.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2014LGBTQ Arizonans who know Lake complained that her anti-LGBTQ turn is hurtful and \u201cfor political gain.\u201d \u201c[Kari Lake is] friends with drag queens,\u201d Richard Stevens, who performs under the stage name Barbra Seville, <\/span>told The Arizona Republic<\/span><\/a>. \u201cShe\u2019s had her kid in front of a drag queen. I\u2019ve done drag in her home for her friends and family. She\u2019s not threatened by them. She would come to shows constantly. To make me be the bogeyman for political gain, it was just too much.\u201d Stevens <\/span>posted<\/span><\/a> older photos with Lake on his drag Instagram, including a photo of Lake in drag herself.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2014Endorsed anti-Semite, anti-immigrant, and anti-LGBTQ candidate Jarrin Jackson, who is running for a seat in the Oklahoma state Senate, before <\/span>rescinding<\/span><\/a> her endorsement following an intense public backlash. Jackson has said \u201cthe Jews\u201d are evidence that \u201cevil exists,\u201d and characterized being LGBTQ as a \u201cgateway to pedophilia.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2014<\/span>Posted<\/span><\/a> a message of support in response to Caitlyn Jenner\u2019s ESPYs speech, saying, \u201cI am absolutely rooting for anyone who makes the difficult decision to transition. It is a decision that is never made lightly.\u201d In comments following the post, Lake argued in response to anti-trans comments from some of her followers, saying, \u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter if we agree or not\u2026that\u2019s not the point. The point is this is her life. And there are a lot of young people coming up today facing the same difficult dilemma needing support so we don\u2019t have so many suicides in this group of individuals. No one is asking you to transition, they are just asking for a little bit [of] understanding or support.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2014<\/span>Signaled<\/span><\/a> support for Arizona\u2019s 15-week abortion ban, saying she would \u201cfollow the law\u201d if elected as governor.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2014Been a prominent figure in election denialism, particularly following her loss in the 2022 Arizona gubernatorial race. Lake <\/span>raised<\/span><\/a> $2.5 million after Election Day, largely from supporters outside Arizona who responded to her claims that the election was stolen from her. She consistently <\/span>refused<\/span><\/a> to concede, asserting that the election was “one of the most dishonest” in Arizona’s history.<\/span><\/p>\n
