\u2014A transgender and gender nonconforming advocacy group,\u00a0The Transformation Project<\/a>, sued the state of South Dakota for terminating a contract with the organization, as reported by the\u00a0Associated\u00a0<\/a>Press<\/a>. South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem and her health secretary apologized for the incident and agreed to pay $300,000 for the settlement.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2014<\/span>Signed<\/span><\/a> two executive orders in 2021 banning transgender girls and women from competing on women’s sports teams at public high schools and colleges in South Dakota.<\/span><\/p>\n
