\u2014In the days after the deadly shooting at a Colorado Springs LGBTQ club,\u00a0falsely claimed<\/a> that drag events \u201csexualize\u201d children. Falsely equated drag story hours, where performers in costume and makeup read to children, to strip clubs.<\/p>\n

\u2014Misgendered<\/a> pediatrician and HHS Assistant Secretary for Health Dr. Rachel Levine, and used vile, false and harmful \u201cgroomer\u201d rhetoric.<\/p>\n

\u2014Opposes marriage equality<\/a>,\u00a0writing on her web site,\u00a0“I oppose efforts to redefine marriage as anything other than the union of one man and one woman.” In June 2015, the Supreme Court ruled in the landmark civil rights case of Obergefell v. Hodges<\/em> that the fundamental right of same-sex couples to marry is guaranteed by both the Due Process Clause and the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. Her site also declares her opposition to\u00a0gender-affirming treatment<\/a>: “I am fighting to protect families from extremists telling our children that it’s ok for them to get a sex change and take puberty blocking drugs.\u00a0It is wrong to sacrifice the safety and wellbeing of our children on the altar of radical leftist ideology.” Every major\u00a0medical association<\/a>\u00a0including the American Medical Association and American Academy of Pediatrics support access to school sports as important for children\u2019s physical, social and emotional growth.<\/p>\n

\u2014Introduced legislation<\/a> in the House to block research into gender-affirming treatments for transgender youth, claiming that trans youth are \u201csexualized and used for horrific sexual \u2018research’\u201d when given life-saving puberty blockers and calling transitioning \u201cgenital mutilation.\u201d Her bill would block federal funds from being \u201cused to fund research or publications relating to gender transition in individuals under the age of 18.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014Mocked<\/a> gender nonconforming and transgender people by tweeting \u201cI identify as non-Bidenary.\u201d The previous year she tweeted<\/a> a similarly unfunny joke: \u201cMy pronoun is \u2018Patriot.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014Said that the Equality Act is actually about the \u201csupremacy of gays and lesbians and transvestites<\/a>\u201d above all other Americans. The Equality Act would add sexual orientation and gender identity to existing federal civil rights laws. It would ban anti-LGBTQ discrimination in employment, education, housing, public accommodations, jury selection, credit and federal programs. \u201cTransvestite<\/a>\u201d is considered an offensive term and is not applicable to transgender people.<\/p>\n

\u2014Spewed hateful rhetoric describing<\/a> the Equality Act as \u201cdangerous\u201d and \u201cdisgusting,\u201d and baselessly vilified transgender girls and athletes when she asked on the House floor, \u201cWhere is the equity in this legislation for the young girls across America who will have to look behind their backs as they change in school locker rooms, just to make sure there isn\u2019t a confused man trying to catch a peek?\u201d In fact,<\/a> transgender people are over four times more likely than cisgender people to experience violent victimization, including rape, sexual assault, and aggravated or simple assault, according to the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":435,"featured_media":506386,"template":"","categories":[138754],"tags":[],"region":[138565],"hashtag":[138636,138632,138634],"class_list":{"0":"post-506385","1":"gap","2":"type-gap","3":"status-publish","4":"has-post-thumbnail","6":"category-gaps","7":"region-national","8":"hashtag-anti-transgender","9":"hashtag-politics","10":"hashtag-trump"},"aioseo_notices":[],"apple_news_notices":[],"aioseo_head":"\n\t\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t
