\u2014Said<\/a> transgender swimmer Lia Thomas<\/a> competing in women\u2019s college athletics could be \u201cthe woke straw that broke society\u2019s camel\u2019s back.\u201d On an episode of his podcast<\/a>, Rogan said, \u201cWhat it is now is not good. What it is now is an assault on women\u2019s sports.\u201d He continued, \u201cWomen are so frustrated, or parents. If your daughter is competing and they\u2019re competing against a trans woman, it\u2019s just not fair\u2026 No matter what anybody says. There\u2019s this nonsense idea, of like well there\u2019s outliers, there are outliers, and then there are biological males. That\u2019s beyond outliers.\u201d In fact, Thomas  has complied with all policies and protocols to participate in the women\u2019s swimming category. She followed all NCAA guidelines<\/a> in place at the time of her transition and afterward to be eligible to swim for a women\u2019s collegiate team. The NCAA announced<\/a> on February 10, 2022, that Thomas is eligible for the 2022 women\u2019s swimming and diving championships in March. <\/p>\n

\u2014Expressed support <\/a>for Florida\u2019s \u201cDon’t Say Gay\u201d legislation and accused teachers of \u201cgrooming\u201d kids: \u201cI think a lot of people are saying, \u2018No, I just don’t want you grooming my kids.\u2019\u201d Sexual grooming<\/a> is a preparatory process in which a perpetrator gradually gains a person\u2019s or organization\u2019s trust with the intent to be sexually abusive. Claiming, despite evidence to the contrary, that gay people are pedophiles, is a long-used scapegoating tactic by religious fundamentalists around the globe, and is a tactic used by Russian President Vladimir Putin<\/a> to garner support for his gay \u201cpropaganda\u201d ban.<\/p>\n

\u2014Misgendered<\/a> four-star admiral and United States Assistant Secretary for Health Rachel Levine saying, \u201cRachel Levine is the guy \u2014 well, was a guy, excuse me, became a woman and then became the first female like multi-starred admiral in the \u2014 I don\u2019t want to f*** this up\u201d as well as using the wrong pronouns for Levine.<\/p>\n

\u2014With podcast guest Monty Franklin commented on University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas\u2019s appearance<\/a>: \u201cIt seems kind of crazy when someone, like, really looks like a man and you can\u2019t even say that anymore. Like, you\u2019re not allowed to bring it up?\u201d Later, he and his guest Monty Franklin also briefly discussed Lia\u2019s genitalia.<\/p>\n

\u2014Linked trans people to the collapse of civilization<\/a>. Rogan suggested that the increased visibility and acceptance of transgender people is a sign of a collapse of civilization. Citing British writer Douglas Murray, he said, \u201cHe had an amazing point about civilizations collapsing, and that when they start collapsing they become obsessed with gender. And he was saying that you could trace it back to the ancient Romans, the Greeks.\u201d He also cited Abigail Shrier\u2019s book and the flawed concept of \u201crapid onset gender dysphoria\u201d earlier in the conversation with Jordan Peterson where Peterson compared the increase of transgender people coming out as \u201csocial contagion.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u2014Amplified harmful anti-trans lies<\/a> on his Spotify podcast \u201cThe Joe Rogan Experience.\u201d Rogan and his guest, former Canadian psychology professor and far-right provocateur Jordan Peterson, speculated, without any basis, on what causes a person to be trans. Peterson asserted that the answer is a \u201csociological contagion\u201d comparable to \u201cthe satanic ritual abuse accusations that emerged in daycares in the 1980s.\u201d Peterson voiced his opposition to the Canadian federal Bill C-16, which added gender identity to the country\u2019s human right protections, and baselessly argued that amending \u201csex categories\u201d in nondiscrimination measures would \u201cfatally confuse thousands of young girls.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014Asserted<\/a>, without basis, that \u201cmen transitioning to women use male tactics and male behavior as they invade feminist spaces,\u201d \u201ctend to be more assertive,\u201d and \u201cdominate whenever possible if left unchecked.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014Said LGBTQ people are the \u201cmost vicious\u201d at ostracizing others<\/a> because \u201cthey\u2019ve been bullied\u201d and are seeking revenge. Rogan claimed, without basis, \u201cIt\u2019s also people that\u2014they don\u2019t have a lot of love in their life\u2026  If they do have love, it\u2019s like, very conditional and it\u2019s very precarious.\u201d Rogan said that those on the left are focused on trying to get people fired\u2014adding that \u201cmost of those people have experienced deep pain in their life.\u2026 The most vicious sh*t is coming from like transgender people or gay people.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u2014Baselessly claimed<\/a> that \u201cthere\u2019s not a lot of overwhelming, overt discrimination against people who are trans, like, publicly other than the sports thing\u201d and prisons.<\/p>\n

\u2014Discussed whether acceptance of trans people signals \u201cthe end of America\u201d<\/a> with guest Douglas Murray, associate editor of The Spectator<\/em>, on Rogan\u2019s Spotify podcast. He described the participation of trans women in sports to be \u201crepulsive.\u201d Murray asserted, without evidence, that the acceptance of transgender people is \u201can end-of-empire discussion. At the end of every empire they get interested in sexual fluidity, hermaphrodite, and so on.\u201d Rogan said, \u201cThat is fascinating that at the end of empires they get really concerned with gender, and hermaphrodites, and those things.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u2014Made the inflammatory and false claim<\/a> on \u201cThe Joe Rogan Experience\u201d podcast that living with the Kardashian women, whom he called \u201cb*tches,\u201d were the cause of Jenner\u2019s transition. He said, \u201c\u2026maybe if you live with crazy b*tches long enough, they f*cking turn you into one. Maybe you go crazy.\u201d Rogan repeatedly misgendered and deadnamed Jenner throughout the episode, questioned the authenticity of her identity, and lamented that, \u201cWe lost a f*cking Olympic gold medalist, g*ddamn it. We lost one of our greatest athletes ever. You look in the record book, what does it say now under [Cailtyn Jenner]? What does it say? Are you even allowed to say that anymore?\u201d In the same episode, he advanced the right-wing lie that the LGBTQ community embraces pedophilia as \u201cas a sexual inclination, as a sexual proclivity,\u201d and lied about California law claiming that \u201cA 20-year-old man can have a 10-year-old boyfriend. And as long as it\u2019s within the 10-year boundary, you\u2019re OK.\u201d California law does not legalize pedophilia. <\/p>\n

\u2014Lied about transgender youth<\/a> throughout a nearly two-hour coversation with Wall Street Journal <\/em>opinion writer Abigail Shrier<\/a>, including pushing dangerous misinformation and making comparisons between being transgender and anorexia, demon posession, and being in a cult. While promoting Shrier\u2019s anti-trans book Irreversible Damage<\/em>, Rogan encouraged parents to reject their children\u2019s transgender identities. Multiple times he and Shrier described trans youth as a \u201csocial contagion,\u201d Shrier\u2019s flawed thesis<\/a>, and likened it to cutting or eating disorders, conditions that can be exacerbated by peer pressure. Rogan said, \u201cIt seems like that’s really the only way these people that are going through this with their children are ever going to get any light at the end of the tunnel is to see that some people have already done this and to learn from the mistakes of the past and to learn from the problems that these kids have encountered upon transitioning and that this groupthink model, this \u2018contagion,\u2019 as you describe it, does happen to kids. It happens with cutting. It happens with even suicide pacts. It happens with a lot of weird stuff that kids\u2014particularly kids that feel like they\u2019re outcasts and they\u2019re depressed. It\u2019s a real problem.\u201d Shrier said that transitioning is \u201cone form of self-harm\u201d for trans youth and said that trans boys are \u201cthe same population that gets involved in cutting, demonic possession, witchcraft, anorexia, bulimia, and convinces themselves there\u2019s a problem.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014Misgendered MMA fighter Fallon Fox<\/a> on \u201cThe Joe Rogan Experience,\u201d his Spotify podcast, disapproving of Fox\u2019s divisional affiliation as a female athlete and saying, \u201cShe calls herself a woman but… I tend to disagree\u2026 She wants to be able to fight women in MMA. I say no f*cking way.\u2026 That’s a man, OK?\u201d <\/p>\n

\u2014Used anti-gay slur<\/a> to describe journalist Tomas Rios, writing on a mixed martial arts message board that he\u2019d gotten Rios fired and added, \u201cYou wanted my attention, f*ggot? You got it.\u201d In his so-called apology, Rogan wrote, “I enjoy that word immensely, and although I do not intend for its use to be interpreted as a negative term for homosexuals, but rather as I’ve always used it to imply that a person is weak and pathetic, which I believe Rios to be\u2026 As for my use of the offensive word ‘f*ggot’ please accept my apologies and replace it with ‘c*ck-sucker.'”<\/p>\n

\u2014Defended his use of an anti-LGBTQ slur<\/a> saying in an interview that \u201cf*ggot\u201d is not off-limits and that the word doesn\u2019t mean what LGBTQ people say it does: \u201cYou can\u2019t do that. You can\u2019t decide that a word is forbidden now collectively amongst your group of human beings, that the word is a slanderous evil nasty word about homosexuals\u2026 The word doesn\u2019t mean that.\u201d
