\u2014Declared that Florida “will not comply<\/a>” and would “fight back” against the new Title IX rules announced by the Biden administration, which include specific protections for LGBTQ+ students and prohibit discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation. In a video <\/span>DeSantis stated<\/a>, without basis, that Florida “will not let President Joe Biden attempt to insert men into women’s activities and infringe upon the rights of parents.” <\/span>The Florida Department of Education has instructed<\/a> school districts in the state to “not initiate any changes” to comply with the new Title IX guidelines, arguing that the updates “violate various federal and state laws.”<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2014Staffers on DeSantis\u2019s presidential campaign team <\/span>kept re-tweeting videos<\/span><\/a> from a DeSantis fan account that \u201c<\/span>adds Nazi imagery to clips of the Florida governor<\/span><\/a>.\u201d DeSantis communications staffer Nate Hochman was fired over the matter, and a person with knowledge of the videos said <\/span>Hochman made the videos himself.<\/span><\/a> In a separate incident Hochman <\/span>told<\/span><\/a> white nationalist <\/span>Nick Fuentes<\/span><\/a> that he would be a <\/span>good influence<\/span><\/a> on young conservatives. \u201cI think Nick\u2019s probably a better influence than Ben Shapiro on young men who might otherwise be conservative,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2014Defended<\/a> as \u201ctotally fair game\u201d an anti-LGBTQ campaign ad posted to Twitter by the unofficial account DeSantis War Room. The ad features Donald Trump<\/a> in 2016 saying he would do “everything in my power to protect our LGBTQ citizens\u201d (the evidence to the contrary is here<\/a>) and then contrasting that message with DeSantis\u2019 policies targeting transgender and LGBTQ rights in the state of Florida. The tweet, criticized as anti-LGBTQ by Democrats and Republicans, was also shared by the governor’s presidential campaign. The video has been deleted.<\/p>\n
