\u2014Urged<\/a> the U.S. Senate to interrogate Kristin Goodwin about \u201chomosexual conduct\u201d she may have engaged in prior to the repeal of \u201cdon\u2019t ask, don\u2019t tell\u201d in 2011 during Goodwin\u2019s nomination to serve as a commandant of cadets at the U.S. Air Force Academy.<\/p>\n

\u2014Wrote an \u201cIssue Brief\u201d<\/a> regarding the re-nomination of Chai Feldblum, a civil rights lawyer, to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Sprigg urged Trump to withdraw the nomination and urged the Senate not to reconfirm her. Feldblum, who is a lesbian, was first nominated to the EEOC by President Obama. <\/p>\n

\u2014Former Senior Fellow for Policy Studies of the Family Research Council, which the Southern Poverty Law Center listed as an anti-gay hate group in 2010.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u2014Co-wrote position paper<\/a> insisting \u201cThere is no rational or compassionate reason to affirm a distorted psychological self-concept that one\u2019s \u2018gender identity\u2019 is different from one\u2019s biological sex. Neither lawmakers nor counselors, pastors, teachers, nor medical professionals should participate in or reinforce the transgender movement\u2019s lies about sexuality\u2014nor should they be required by the government to support such distortion.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014Claimed<\/a> LGBTQ activists hold a \u201cshocking\u201d and \u201cun-American\u201d point of view designed to punish others.<\/p>\n

\u2014Insists<\/a> trans people need \u201cto find psychological counseling\u201d and that \u201cwe shouldn\u2019t be affirming them in this confusion.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014On trans soldiers<\/a>: \u201cThe military regularly discharges service members who are not medically deployable. It would be unfair not to hold individuals who identify as transgender to the same standard.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014Testified<\/a> that dangerous, scientifically-discredited, so-called \u201creparative therapy\u201d is actually helpful and effective.<\/p>\n

\u2014Said: \u201cThe most effective way of reducing teen suicide attempts is not to create a \u2018positive social environment\u2019<\/a> for the affirmation of homosexuality. Instead, it would be to discourage teens from self-identifying as gay, lesbian, or bisexual.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014Said: \u201cI would much prefer to export homosexuals from the United States<\/a> than to import them into the United States, because we believe that homosexuality is destructive to society.\u201d (See 0:11 mark here.<\/a>) [NOTE: A week later, Peter rolled back his statements<\/a>, saying he \u201cused language that trivialized the seriousness of the issue and did not communicate respect for the essential dignity of every human being as a person created in the image of God.\u201d]<\/p>\n

\u2014Said he wants to see being gay punished by law: \u201cI think that the Supreme Court decision in Lawrence v. Texas, which overturned the sodomy laws in this country, was wrongly decided. I think there would be a place for criminal sanctions against homosexual behavior.<\/a>\u201c<\/p>\n

\u2014Claimed homosexuality is \u201charmful to the people who engage in it and to society at large<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014Claimed transgender men and women \u201care people who DENY who they really are<\/a>;\u201d said laws protecting transgender individuals \u201cforce private actors to affirm delusions<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014Instructs those engaged in marriage conversation to always bring it back to gays \u201cchoosing\u201d their behavior<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u2014Said gay rights movement is winning because of \u201cintimidation\u201d and \u201cemotional blackmail.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

\u2014Testified<\/a> in 2013 before the Maryland Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee regarding Senate Bill 449, that transgender individuals need to be \u201cchanged\u201d: \u201cA person who believes they are, or wishes to be, the opposite sex from that which is written in the chromosomes of every cell of his or her body, is suffering from a disconnection with an immutable biological reality. The solution to this problem is not actions\u2014up to and including self-mutilating surgery amputating healthy body parts\u2014which will reinforce this disconnect with reality. The solution is compassionate counseling aimed at helping the individual to uncover the psychological roots of their gender identity problems, and to become comfortable with one\u2019s actual biological sex.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014Denigrated trans protections by crudely characterizing transgender individuals<\/a>: \u201cIt is simply inevitable that when they see a brawny 6\u20192\u201d man with broad shoulders, large hands, large feet, a protruding Adam\u2019s apple, facial stubble, and a deep voice wearing high heels, pantyhose and a skirt, many customers or clients may be put off. An employer should not be forced to ignore this risk.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014Testified against measures that seek to limit scientifically-discredited \u201cex-gay\u201d therapy<\/a>.<\/p>\n
