\u2014Argued<\/a> homosexuality should remain in the DSM as a mental illness.<\/p>\n

\u2014Targeted<\/a> LGBTQ-inclusive holiday movies, falsely claiming that some cable channels are for \u201creligious families\u201d and inferring that LGBTQ people are not people of faith. 47% of LGBTQ people identify<\/a> as religious and majorities of all faiths<\/a> support protections for LGBTQ Americans.<\/p>\n

\u2014In an interview<\/a>, said he thinks \u201chomosexual activity is a sin\u201d and equated sexual orientation with his desire to \u201csleep with many women.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014In response to the Supreme Court ruling that legalized marriage equality, tweeted<\/a>, \u201cWords don\u2019t mean anything. Laws don\u2019t mean anything. The law is, apparently, whatever Obama says it is.\u201d He also tweeted<\/a>, \u201cLet’s just skip all the suspense: SCOTUS should just declare a Constitutional right to whatever the hell they feel like that day,\u201d and<\/a> \u201cSame sex marriage will never affect you. By \u201cyou,\u201d of course, we don’t mean your business, church, school, or raising of your children.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014Said<\/a> in a speech: \u201cA man and a woman do a better job of raising a child than two men or two women.\u201d Research<\/a> using government tracking data shows children raised by same-sex couples do as well, if not better in some areas, than children raised by different-sex couples.<\/p>\n

\u2014Said<\/a>: \u201cThis is not a country that discriminates against homosexuals\u201d and that \u201cthere is a vastly minute amount of discrimination against gays in this country.\u201d The Southern Poverty Law Center, using FBI hate crimes data, notes that LGBTQs are far more likely to be victimized by violent hate crime<\/a>. FBI data<\/a> for 2019 shows 16.7% of hate crimes victims were targeted for their sexual orientation; 2.7% were targeted because of their gender identity.<\/p>\n

\u2014Said being transgender is mental illness<\/a>: \u201cIt is a psychological disorder. So that’s not an insult to people who suffer from psychological disorders\u2026you are not doing a service to people who are suffering from a mental disorder to humor them by suggesting that their mental disorder is reflected in objective reality.\u201d The American Psychological Association does not define being transgender<\/a> as a mental illness.<\/p>\n

\u2014Said<\/a>: \u201cYou can\u2019t magically change your gender. You can\u2019t magically change your sex. You can\u2019t magically change your age.\u201d<\/p>\n
