\u2014In his ruling that Arkansas’s 2021 law banning gender-affirming medical care for minors is unconstitutional<\/a>, U.S. District Judge James Moody Jr. cited significant problems<\/a> with the state\u2019s selected experts:\u00a0\u201cThe Court does not credit the testimony of Professor [Mark] Regnerus and gives it no weight because the Court finds that he lacks the qualifications to offer his opinions and failed to support them.\u201d;\u00a0\u201cDr. [Patrick] Lappert<\/a> does not meet the requirements under\u00a0Daubert\u00a0<\/em>to give opinions relevant to this case.\u201d;\u00a0\u201cDr. [Paul] Hruz<\/a> has never treated a patient for gender dysphoria.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014Published a deeply flawed study<\/a> that attempted to demonstrate that children of same-sex parents fared worse in comparison to children raised by straight couples\u2014without actually studying the children of same-sex parents. Both progressives and conservatives called the study bogus.<\/a> A Netherlands data analysis<\/a> published in 2021 reported that \u201cchildren in same-sex-parented families outperform children in different-sex-parented families on multiple indicators of academic performance, including standardized tests scores, high school graduation rates, and college enrollment.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014Published a subsequent \u201cstudy\u201d<\/a> targeting pro-LGBTQ Christians that attempted to prove that favoring marriage equality leads to a sexually unrestrained, immoral world. The study was neither peer-reviewed nor did Regnerus provide details on his survey sampling.<\/p>\n

\u2014Was rejected as an expert witness<\/a> in a Michigan marriage equality ruling. Judge Bernard A. Friedman wrote: \u201cThe Court finds Regnerus\u2019s testimony entirely unbelievable and not worthy of serious consideration,\u201d and that his conservative research was \u201chastily concocted at the behest of a third-party funder.\u201d<\/p>\n
