href=\"https:\/\/transequality.org\/blog\/gov-christie-issues-2nd-veto-of-birth-certificate-modernization-bill\">In 2015 vetoed &#8220;a bill<\/a> that would have eased access to accurate birth certificates for transgender people.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-8d8deec3-7fff-793b-655d-07d262bd6746\">\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2013\/10\/22\/nyregion\/christie-withdraws-appeal-of-same-sex-marriage-ruling-in-new-jersey.html#:~:text=As%20couples%20across%20New%20Jersey,of%20history%20were%20against%20him.\">Abandoned<\/a> his long fight against same-sex marriage in 2013, &#8220;concluding that signals from the court and the march of history were against him.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u2014Signed a bill barring licensed therapists from trying to turn gay teenagers straight, making New Jersey the second state to ban so-called &#8220;conversion therapy,&#8221; after California.<\/p>\n<p transgender citizens to change their birth markers, calling the idea &#8220;beyond the pale.&#8221; New Jersey<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gardenstateequality.org\/faq\"> legalized<\/a> allowing changes to
