\u2014Illegally discriminated against the Iowa Workers\u2019 Compensation Commissioner<\/a> Christopher Godfrey when he cut Godfrey\u2019s salary in an effort to force Godfrey to resign. The jury awarded Godfrey $1.5 million, and agreed with Godfrey\u2019s claim that Branstad singled him out because he is gay.<\/p>\n

\u2014Claimed that he \u201cdidn\u2019t know\u201d<\/a> that the 2010 Iowa Republican Party Platform called for the ending a 2007 anti-discrimination law protecting LGBTQ Iowans. Branstad was head of the state GOP at the time.<\/p>\n

\u2014A longtime opponent of marriage equality, Branstad said he believes \u2018the court made a mistake\u2019 regarding Iowa Supreme Court\u2019s unanimous decision in support of marriage equality.<\/p>\n
