\u2014Praised Russian President Vladimir Putin\u2019s government for its homophobia and transphobia. In conversation with Erik Prince, founder of the military contracting firm Blackwater USA (and brother of Trump\u2019s Education secretary, Betsy DeVos<\/a>) on his podcast War Room<\/em><\/a>, \u201cPutin ain\u2019t woke. He is anti-woke,\u201d Bannon said, to which Prince responded, \u201cThe Russian people still know which bathroom to use.\u201d Bannon asked how many genders there are in Russia; \u201cTwo,\u201d said Prince. Bannon further praised Russia<\/a> for not flying LGBTQ Pride flags, and Prince noted, \u201cThey don\u2019t have boys swimming in girls\u2019 college swim meets,\u201d a reference to transgender athletes. \u201cHow savage,\u201d Bannon said sarcastically. \u201cHow medieval.\u201d Putin is notorious for enacting the \u201cgay propaganda\u201d law in 2013, which prohibits any mention of LGBTQ issues or identities in venues accessible to minors, effectively banning Pride parades and further fomenting<\/a> anti-LGBTQ sentiment in a nation without a free press.<\/p>\n

\u2014Launched a secret plan<\/a> devised by Chris Gacek, a former congressional staffer and an official at the anti-LGBTQ Family Research Council, to infiltrate Facebook and place a mole in the company. \u201cFlood the zone with candidates of all stripe [sic] who will report back to you \/ Milo with INTEL about the job application process over at FB,\u201d Gacek emailed to Bannon about job openings at Facebook. Bannon assigned then-Breitbart news tech editor Milo Yiannopoulos to the task of sending, emailing \u201cCan u get on this.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014While at Breitbart<\/em>, devised the term \u201cBig Gay Hate Machine\u201d<\/a> to target LGBTQ activists and organizations as a way of attacking the political left. His first foray into this was an article by Austin Ruse attacking the legacy of Matthew Shepard, the 19-year-old gay man who was murdered in 1998 and became the namesake of anti-discrimination legislation and a national symbol. \u201cAlmost everything you think you know about the Matthew Shepard narrative is false,\u201d that his story was \u201chagiography\u201d and a lie, and proof that \u201cthe agenda of the sexual left lives on lies.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014Bragged<\/a> that under his chairmanship, Breitbart<\/em> became \u201cthe platform for the alt-right.\u201d Former Breitbart<\/em> writer Ben Shapiro says Bannon<\/a> \u201callowed the site to be taken over and used by a bunch of alt-right people who are not fond of Jews, are not fond of minorities.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014Boasted<\/a> of Breitbart\u2019s influence: \u201cOn the social conservative side, we\u2019re the voice of the anti-abortion movement, the voice of the traditional marriage movement, and I can tell you we\u2019re winning victory after victory after victory.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014Under his chairmanship, Breitbart became known for headlines such as<\/a> \u201cTrannies 49Xs Higher HIV Rate,\u201d \u201cBirth Control Makes Women Unattractive and Crazy,\u201d \u201cHoist it high and proud: The Confederate Flag Proclaims A Glorious Heritage\u201d and \u201cBill Kristol: Republican Spoiler, Renegade Jew.\u201d The site also purposely misgenders<\/a> prominent transgender activists.<\/p>\n

\u2014Claimed<\/a> Target\u2019s inclusivity of transgender individuals seeks \u201cto exclude people who are decent, hard-working people who don\u2019t want their four-year-old daughter to have to go into a bathroom with a guy with a beard in a dress.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014Decried progressive women<\/a> as \u201ca bunch of dykes that came from the Seven Sisters schools up in New England.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014After Duck Dynasty<\/em> star Phil Robertson made a spate of anti-gay comments, Bannon gave him an award<\/a>: \u201cPhil and his family have been that breath of fresh air Hollywood desperately needed. They are taking their faith and conservative politics mainstream. Phil has the guts to do and say what most politicians in Washington won\u2019t: You must adhere to your conservative beliefs, all of them, and never surrender or compromise them for anyone. We are proud supporters of the Robertsons.<\/p>\n
